Principles? They're nothing.

Thanks to Alvy Singer for the inspiration on spoofing a song and to The Phantom Observer for the idea of Dire Strait's classic Money for Nothing. Without further ado, I present Principles? They're nothing by the Hon. Mr. Bernard Lord.

UPDATE: In the intro of the original 8 minute version where Sting is saying "I want my MTV", you can substitute Lord saying "I want my maj-or-it-y"

Principles? They're nothing.
by Bernard Lord

Now look at them yo-yos, that's the way you do it
You make the promises they want to see
That ain't governin', that's the way you do it
Principles? They're nothing. The top job, it's free
Now that ain't governin', that's the way you do it
Lemme tell ya, New Brunswickers sure are dumb
Maybe promise a tax assessment freeze on your house
Maybe promise a big gas tax cut for your car

[chorus]
We gotta fudge that balanced budget
Orimulsion deliveries?
We gotta close these health centres
We gotta boost our majorities

See the crazy voter with the issues and the questions
Yeah buddy, you think I care?
That little voter got his own opinion
That little voter, he'll get hot air

[repeat chrous x2]

I shoulda never closed them tolls
I shoulda caught that auto insurance
Look at the ledger now, sticking the red
Man we did have some fun
And the voters there, whats that? Changing the voices?
Bangin on our doors like a chimpanzee
That ain't right, we had the way to do it
Principles? They're Nothing. The top job for free.

[repeat chorus]

Now that ain't governin', that's the way you do it
You made the promises they wanna see
That ain't governin', that's the way you do it
Principles? Were nothing, top job was free
Principles were nothing. The top job, free.

That about sums up Lord's philosophy and vision. He has been on jayride for last 7+ years. Time to kick his butts.

Love the song. It's genius. Lord's been floating in a bubble for too long.
