And now, for something completely different

Well, not really.

I have been invited by CanadaEast (the web arm of Brunswick News, which is in turn the newspaper arm of Irving Corp) to write a blog from a "left-wing" perspective on New Brunswick politics. Though I consider myself more of a moderate or centrist, I guess my Liberal label makes me a left winger by default.

This blog will continue, but I will cross post the relevant pieces of it over there. There may also be some "point, counter point" between myself and whoever my right wing counter balance is, so I'll link you to there for that as appropriate.

I will see some benefits if I manage more than 5000 page views per month (my current average here is 3920) so please stop by my brand new, shiny second home which you will find at canadaeast.com/blog/politics.

UPDATE: We are now online and ready to go. You'll find my site at the revised URL canadaeast.com/blog/fromtheleft and my right-wing counterpart at canadaeast.com/blog/fromtheright. Most readers of this blog will be familiar with my blogging friend Spinks; it is he who will speak from the right. This should be very good fun!

The editorial board of the local paper in the past year have apparently placed themselves in the position of chief decision maker for all New Brunswickers. What should be an opinion piece has become the PR department of the Shawn Graham Liberals. It has become routine for them to speak on what the majority of New Brunswickers want with no statistical evidence to back it up.remember when a newspaper reported NEWS and it was up to us to interpret it NOT TO BE RAMMED DOWN OUR THROATS. What a rag !!!

I wonder who the 'righty' will possibly be?

I'd say Spinks, but he turned Scott Agnew down in his own comments section.

*btw, I think this is a good idea by CanadaEast. It helps give them some legitimacy. :)

I hope it is not Spinko.

Spinks, the best response and "write-up" I ever received from you.

Congrats! Will your first topic be the situation that exploded at the Woodstock Bugle...i mean "Independant" Newspaper? :)

No I don't think so, the facts are foggy, it is before the courts and my posts over there will be focussed on politics.

Politico will you and/or Spinks be commenting on the Irving media concentration issue raised on the CBC tonight?

Spinks said...

Already did anon. Check out Thursday's blog on "How blogging provides more voices in the media" both at Spink About It and CanadaEast.

Although in fairness that the Irvings own virtually all English daily print media isn't exactly new.
