Semi-retirement

I am taking a step back from some of my blogging activity, including my blog at CanadaEast. I am under the impression that they will find someone else to carry the "from the left" mantra over there and hope that whomever succeeds me there will add to the important political debate in our province.

In the meantime, I will maintain this blog but will be posting less frequently and with a different focus. Rather than focussing on New Brunswick politics, I will focus on global politics and world affairs from my perspective as a New Brunswicker.

I want to thank you for reading and commenting over the past year and a bit and hope you will continue to do so.

Best regards,
nbpolitico

Hey bud, sorry to see you go. It's another tough loss to NB blogging.
It's a dwindling number of viewpoints out there from an NB perspective. Good luck with future endeavours.

From a purely selfish viewpoint, this sucks. Your blog was a daily visit.

From a fellow blogger viewpoint, I understand and appreciate your decision. When it becomes work rather than fun, it's time to pack it in.

Take care.

Global politics, local politics - it's all the same thing.

A select few entities are rich and established enough to shakily dominate the rest. These entities either rapidly accumulate or lose wealth, depending on how successfully they go about their business.

Note that by 'successfully' here, I don't mean somehow correctly or for the common good, I mean almost purely based on their income & outflow of fiat dollars and other currency.

Invading a country for oil or setting up shrill economies to maintain the illusion of subsistence might not be in the best long-term interests of the people, but we are easily manipulated, and will have forgotten about it when the hidden inflation taxes come due.

Good luck to you NB Politico, you gave it a good try - some well-though out discussion of NB politics, but there would always be things you couldn't touch.

Say there's a huge gas leak that we have to pay millions to clean up or has permanently disabled children - while you wait for the bosses' spin,, the independent reports will eventually chip away at any credibility (or - if you had to continue the "speak no evil" route) loss of pride in your work.

You have taken an honourable way out - there is no fighting against the tide here. We're like debt-urchins floating along in a sea of briny globalist currency.

Anon at 8:50 I have no idea what you are talking about.

Though money talks in the US, that couldn't be further from the truth in Canadian politics. Look right at the top to the prime minister who is by no means rich and in fact had to arrange to be allowed to continue to live in Stornoway between his term as Alliance and Conservative leader because he had no means to set up alternate accomodations.

As for your implication that I was somehow taking direction from somewhere, that couldn't be further from the truth. Everything I've written here has been my opinion without external influence or direction and that will continue to be the case.

If you read back through my posts, you'll find that on more than one occassion, I had negative things to say about the Liberals and positive things to say about the Progressive Conservatives. If I more often supported the Liberals, that would stand to reason. If I didn't think they were right more often, I wouldn't have joined their party.

My departure from commenting on NB politics has ZERO to do with the positions or actions of any political party. It is the result of a personal decision on my part to withdraw from partisanship for the time being due to some events in my personal life. I would ask that you leave it at that and that you not assume because all that does is make an "ass" of "u" and "me".

what do you mean that our politicians don't have money.
Paul Martin- Steamship line that doesn't pay taxes in Canada.
2. Jean Chretien- in with the Demerais
3. Brian Mulroney- only God or Schreiber knows where his money comes from.
4. Belinda- Auto parts Billionare
5. Frank McKenna- Corporate friendly premier made good connections like UPS. as well as Carlyle.
we just don't question them on it as much

Ok nbpolitico - keep living in la la land.

Everything I've written here has been my opinion without external influence or direction

Alright - just consider for a second where you get your information. I`d guess you don`t have the ability to mentally pull it in from the atmosphere directly. You`re not being honest with yourself if you don`t think our political information is highly packaged and spoon fed to the people.

To assume you are able to somehow decipher what is true and ignore the partisan spin makes an ass out of at least you.

NB Politico, ignore the insulting trolls. The rest of us will miss you and hey on the plus side according to anon 11:52, I'll be closer to the top, (whatever that means).
